Family court can move fast, and a lot of it hinges on paperwork and classes most people have never dealt with before. If you’re divorcing, separating, or establishing paternity and you have minor children, most courts in this region will require a parenting class before custody is finalized, and you’ll need the right forms filed correctly along the way.
This page brings both of those pieces together in one place, organized by where you actually live. Find your city or county below, and you’ll see the specific requirement that applies to you, the classes that courts in that area recognize, and links to the official forms you’ll need.
The goal is to save you the time of hunting across county websites and to help you walk into your next court date already knowing what’s expected.
Oklahoma
Under 43 O.S. § 107.2, both parents involved in any divorce, separation, or paternity case involving minor children must complete a court-approved educational program on the impact of divorce on children. It generally must be finished early in the case, and custody is not finalized until it is done. Read the statute.
Oklahoma City
Parenting Classes
- Calm Waters — Co-Parenting Through Divorce (Oklahoma City nonprofit). Court-approved class on the effects of divorce on children and co-parenting communication. Four-hour in-person session downtown (501 N. Walker, Ste. 140) or self-paced online. Approx. $55. calmwaters.org
- OSU Extension — Co-Parenting for Resilience (Oklahoma County Extension). Evidence-based, state court-recognized class. In-person (English and Spanish) at OSU-OKC, or online self-paced. $35 in-person / $55 online. extension.okstate.edu

Oklahoma County does not publish a single official “approved provider” list online. Confirm your chosen class, especially any online-only course, is accepted by the court clerk or your judge before you pay.
Tulsa
Tulsa County applies the same state requirement (43 O.S. § 107.2) and also uses a Parenting Plan Conference and required informational videos as part of the process. Family Court Resource Coordinator: (918) 596-5335.

Missouri
Missouri law (RSMo Section 452.600) directs circuit courts to require parenting-education sessions in divorce and custody cases with minor children. Requirements are set by local court rule, so they vary by county.
Jasper County (Joplin, Carthage)
Jasper County Local Rule 68.8 specifically names Focus on Kids as the approved program, to be completed within 60 days of service.

Arkansas
Northwest Arkansas
Arkansas law (A.C.A. § 9-12-322) gives the court discretion to require divorcing parents of minor children to complete at least two hours of parenting classes, or to attend mediation, with each party paying their own cost.

Benton and Washington County judges differ on whether online parenting certificates are accepted, and neither county publishes an official approved-provider list. Confirm with your specific court before enrolling.
